How Vigilo works
From a 10-second scan to continuous monitoring. Everything happens by email and in your browser.
Scan
We read your public homepage and DNS records. No login, no install. In about 10 seconds you see a quick score, what passed, and fix steps for the three issues that matter most.
Report
We crawl up to 25 pages (50 for webshops) with real browsers, test your cookie banner’s reject path, run automated accessibility rules and check your shop’s consumer information. A person reviews the findings and puts the ten that matter most at the top.
Fix
Do it yourself with our steps, hand it to your developer, or buy a fixed-price fix package. We send exact records and config; you apply them; we verify.
Watch
Monitor re-checks weekly and emails you when something regresses: a plugin update that brings back a tracker, a DNS change that drops your DMARC record.
What we don’t do
Vigilo looks at what any visitor can see. Nothing more.
- We don’t log into your site, DNS or CMS.
- We don’t submit forms, place orders or load-test.
- We don’t give legal opinions.
- We don’t call you.

Rather read it yourself?
The sample report is for a fictional shop, example-webshop.test. It shows the summary, the top-10 fixes, every finding with evidence, and how it prints.
Questions
Is this legal advice?
No. Vigilo reports technical observations against published standards and guidelines, such as WCAG, email authentication specs and the EDPB’s cookie banner findings. Whether your site meets a particular law depends on facts we can’t see. Use our report as input for your lawyer or privacy officer, not as a substitute.
Do you need access to my site?
No. We look at what any visitor sees: your public pages, response headers and DNS records. We never ask for passwords, CMS or DNS access. Fix packages come as instructions and config you (or your developer) apply.
Why no sales calls?
Because you don’t need one to buy a scan, and we’d rather spend the time on your report. Everything is priced upfront and works by form and email. If you have a question, write to us at hello@vigiloweb.com. We reply within 2 working days.
Who is behind Vigilo?
A small independent studio run by a software engineer in the Netherlands. We build and maintain the scanners ourselves; you can see our test pages in the Lab.
Will a good grade mean I’m compliant?
No. A good grade means our automated and reviewed checks found few technical issues. Some requirements can only be judged by people, for example whether your accessibility statement is accurate or whether your privacy texts match your actual processing.
Is the scan safe for my site?
Yes. We send normal page requests at a gentle rate, never submit forms, never log in and never place orders. Free scans and quick checks identify themselves as VigiloBot; deep audits load your pages in a standard browser on our audit provider’s cloud infrastructure.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to me?
It applies to many consumer-facing digital services, including online shops, since 28 June 2025. Micro-enterprises providing services (fewer than 10 staff and an annual turnover or balance-sheet total of at most €2 million) are exempt. Check your situation with an adviser; our accessibility checks are useful either way.
How is the score calculated?
Each check has a weight; categories are combined into a 0–100 score and a grade from A to F. Any critical failure caps the grade at C. The full formula is on the Checks page.
What happens to my data?
We keep as little as possible: free scan results for 30 days, no analytics, no trackers. See the privacy statement for details.
Can I resell your reports?
Yes, on the Agency plan, under your own brand.
